Rain off…it’s Ascot!!

Oh dear, Oh dear….the recent weather has not been kind to us at all…and it’s especially bad as it was Ascot this week and Ladies Day! Such downpours of rain are most ‘unbecoming’…when you wish to wear that special Ascot outfit! So nearer to home down at the charity shop, Stephanie was decked out in ‘turquoise finery’, wearing a full length one shouldered chiffon dress with a high satin belted diamante detailed waistline and elegantly gathered top. ‘Finished off’ with a three tiered pearl necklace and most importantly of all a navy netted hat, worn ‘oh so nonchalantly’ on one side (all in all a very stylish and tasteful approach to Ascot dressing).

Stephanie's regal and 'finery' for Ascot! One hat two different profiles = one great look!Very understated and ‘tres chic’ (though I’m not sure if a sellotaped left shoulder is ‘de rigueur’, but well we have to make allowances for charity shop mannequins). I also feature here are some fun hat’s which I captured on my recent travels.

Rain will not deter any fashionista! And that includes Stephanie oh yes!

My first pick reveals some very bold wide brimmed hats two with great geometric patterns and one in bold hot pink! Definitely great to stand out in a crowd oh yes! I'm wide eyed with these wide brimmed hats! For  a more traditional approach I found two blue hats that would definitely fit the bill, one feathered, and one with a net flower detail both charming with an ‘Olde Worlde’ feel.

'Feeling fine' with feathers and a bit 'safer' with a rose & a bit 'o' net... Next I came across an ‘array’ of traditional hats with a good selection of colours one to suit everyone..?'Box it up' Ascot Style For a more muted and neutral feel I came across a ‘pillar box’ nude hat with large net detailing, wonder if it was like any Chanel sold? (after all she did start as a milliner...pictured here is the recreation of her shop at the Chanel exhibition last year).a pillar box was it 'Chanel's style'? I also found some vintage numbers, one black net with feathers (a bit ‘Cruella Devill’)  and a 60’s style hat with blue and purple flowers (though personally I feel I would pull back the fringe with this number!).these vintage looks are both a bit 'scary' for different reasons...And now back to the ‘more tasteful‘ it’s time for a ‘neutral’ approach..!neutral 'magic'

Finally I found a hat on eBay the ‘infamous’ umbrella hat from the 1980’s, most appropriate what with the weather this week! (though maybe you would have to pin it to stop it ‘flying off’…!)would this 'do' for Ascot? Would keep you dry!

Though in the ‘style stakes’ Stephanie definitely has turned out an ‘Ascot winner’ this week despite the rain...
