A visit to the Charity Shop’s (part two)….
Walking down to one of my usual Charity Shop areas I was very glad, very pleased, and almost ‘ecstatic’ that a new charity shop had opened! This was certainly an exciting discovery, in a time when many have shut down or have been so renovated you no longer realise that is a charity shop! (Not good..). On this visit I will ‘reveal’ my finds. First up are two pairs of tights, ‘new in the packet’ for £1 each, both top names – Aristoc and M&S, so a real bargain! (Hate to think what their original price would be..though on second thoughts, I’d like to know, as it makes the ‘bargaining’ so much sweeter..) Then in a box of Knitting patterns/magazines I came across a magazine title that was new to me, ‘Fashion Craft’ so I snapped up this 80’s number for 50p! I love the cover, and it’s very appropriate for this time a year, ‘Make it Sparkle this Christmas’, Oh yes! I also bought a ‘Mountain Maid’ knitting pattern, (no I don’t know who Mountain Maid are, but it’s a good name!) I don’t knit (wish I could..) yet I can’t stop buying these patterns, as I just love the pictures! This one with the pink ‘outdoorsy’ jumper, white scarf and trousers has a chic simplicity, which immediately appealed. Effortlessly ‘Lady Chic’.I was also excited, to come across a turquoise and silver trim for £1, plus a very good selection of coloured laces (quite ‘rare’ these days) for 50p! Phew! The bargains were ‘coming fast and furious! And were rather ‘overwhelming me’..Though I’m not complaining…bring it on!Then I was drawn to a box ‘o bras’ and various other ‘lingerie paraphernalia’ where I grabbed this royal blue lace slip for 50p! (it seems ’50p’ was ‘big’ that day..) I bought it in mind for re-purposing the fabric, or maybe Marianne will wear it, as it’s too far too ‘daring’ for me, though I could wear a jumper underneath it. What with lingerie as ‘outerwear’ a hot trend this season, I’d be very ‘fashion forward’. Finally I came across an enchanting DVD (again for 50p of course) by one of my favourite authors Jane Austen, an ITV adaptation…(no, don’t ‘hold it’ against them) from that wonderful book, Northanger Abbey (try it!) Have to say I’m really looking forward to watching this, with my hot chocolate at the ready!!
