“Show me the lace”…(part one)

“Show me the lace”, is one of my very favourite lines from the iconic 1970’s fashion/horror film ‘The Eyes of Laura Mars’, starring Faye Dunaway and directed by John Carpenter. A film I will not even try to describe the words ‘fail me’…at present…I just love it so much…only to say more to follow on that in the future, and by the way…just watch it! Well it seems I’m ‘surrounded by lace’, I can’t literally move for the stuff…it’s here there and everywhere!

'Peachy' in Paris? Or maybe add a shade of beige?

This is just a quick ‘Low Down’ of some of the examples I found over the last week. Lace is ‘coming into its own’, it’s not just a ‘trim’ or used as a doily or a tablecloth (and nothing wrong with that either…). This ‘craft creation’ is appearing in fashion from high to low and…I have to admit I’ve got quite a bit of the low version here..but never mind…

Still keeping with the 'peach & beige'...like the sandals!

‘It’s celebrate lace’ week (only denoted by me of course..) this high level and time-consuming art is now a multi-million-machine lace industry. Gone sadly are the original lacemakers (but I do believe there is a small number of industries left…and of course those who pursue the lace making for the sheer love and enjoyment of it, and why not?).

It's the cream and pink now and using lace as a fabric

I can only say I’m loving the ‘lace appeal’ this week, it can be subtle or over the top and very ‘froufrou’ but it seems fashion retailers are taking the ‘bull by the horns’ and using it in a myriad of different ways, from edging and trims to prints and using lace as the main body of the fabric. And honestly…I can’t ‘argue’ with that!

Let's not forget the Charity shop in these proceedings! A traditional use of lace & a more 'innovative' print

All I know is I’ve enjoyed ‘lacing up’ these looks today…and now it’s time for a ‘high latte’ and a apple pie courtesy of Mr Kipling (of course) some nice ‘Friday fun’…oh yes!  And more looks to follow below, enjoy while I eat my pie…

And now for some lace 'overkill' its' sugar & spice' and is not always nice...!

Finally I would like to end with the traditional white lace with a 'modern twist'
