“Show me the lace”… (Part two)
Well it’s only taken me just over two years to get around to doing part two of my blog post using that eponymous line “Show me the lace” from The Eyes of Laura Mars…since 2017 there has been huge changes on the High Street namely there are a lot less shops = a highly reduced landscape of possibilities and choice, so very little now for me to ‘forage’ and photograph…Oh dear not good…hence to my regular fall back of Charity Shops (generally they have not disappeared though many of them have had a ‘makeover’ usually resulting in inflated prices and much less exciting displays…). Though one thing that has not changed is the appearance and use of lace in fashion and I can reliably predict it will never disappear for long, because here it is again, I mean it would be totally ‘stupid’ to think it will ever leave the fashion realm…so what did I find? Well…not a great deal to be honest unlike in 2017 see here (pls right click to open in new tab options in wordpress not working sorry…) https://philippanestie.com/show-me-the-lace-part-one/ firstly I found some denim shorts with lace pockets in a Charity Shop and purely lace shorts at Quiz at Debenhams. Wow could I look hot in those??? (maybe if you took like 30 years off my age…).
Then I found an orange and lace top in independent shop though the comparison to net curtains was too close for me…like yikes!! And again at Quiz I found a lace jumpsuit though definitely not something I would or could wear!…like LOL…! With my mind firmly ‘fixed on lace’ I spotted some lace bags in the window at a local knitting shop (yes surprisingly there are some left…) The lace bag with satin flower motif’s is very ‘froufrou’ though I could see go well with some Gucci number on the catwalk and at £5 a pop you can’t go wrong…Right??!
