Collared!

Browsing through a magazine whilst on the ‘neccessarium’ (medieval…look it up!) I came across a fashion spread showing jumpers with detailed collars, it really took my fancy so I decided to look into this further. Rummaging through my newspaper cuttings I found an image from another fashion report showing a detachable collar, at £60 it was pretty expensive so not a ‘must buy’ for me.

whether you ‘tat’ or crochet these lovely lace collars will be a boon to ‘any’ outfit!?

Intrigued I had a look back in my archive (mainly Golden Hands but not all I might add!) and found two examples one from a Crochet magazine and the other from a Tatting magazine, well I don’t know a lot about tatting but I did start crochet just before the lock down in the form of a course which I will revisit time allowing as I really enjoyed it, though definitely not up to the standard of making a collar unfortunately….! I do really like the idea of a removable collar it’s a very versatile idea to move from outfit to outfit though you would have to make the effort of keeping it clean lol! Especially if like the last picture it dates back to the 1870’s!

Now & then and the fashion gaps inbetween = detachable collars whether your modern or more of a Victorian mind…

The Victorians were always in the know fashion wise & comparable (sort of) is a screenshot of one available on Mango no I didn’t add it to my basket though at £5.99 it really is a bargain also there were more available on their site so maybe ‘check’ it out?? Missing from this report is an item from one of my ‘trusty’ catalogues which sadly no longer exists…as I definitely remember them selling such detachable collars. Think I’m onto something but of course I’m not the only one! My fav is the one featured on the front of the crochet magazine better knuckle down to it in due course…we’ll see have to take ‘big’ baby steps first which means I probably won’t catch on to this fashion trend as yet….but as we all know fashion being in constant circular motion I’m bound to catch up at some point..!
