return….iT!
I know fashion is circular but seriously the amount of returns generated by online shopping must be astronomical! So I’m just basing this on my retail work experience and (I would say fairly moderate online shopping) as I would much rather go to a store whenever I can…but with physical stores diminishing at a rapid rate online seems to be the ‘only’ option. So what’s the problem? Well quite a number of things…from not as ‘expected’ (like actually looking like the product as pictured) to lousy quality. Most outstanding for me is the sizing…a recent order of jeans the boyfriend variety LOL were so big like about 4 sizes over for me, so yes actually fitting is a huge (pardon the pun..) problem as are the materials.
Well in a shop you can actually feel and see the products but sometimes with the fabrics….they not quite as ‘expected’ and can be very disappointing….also to add to list are faulty products including a top I returned (the polo neck striped pictured) where the actual head polo bit was sewn right across! So I couldn’t even get my head through good grief…How did that get missed? Well…I expect it’s to do with the rush to get orders out promptly to meet customer demand and expectations. This is all very wasteful and not at all good for the environment on any level, but for now there is no escaping online shopping. It’s just very hit and miss & ‘higgledy piggledy’….what worries me are the inconsistencies and the waste…
Meaning we will all have to work twice as hard to keep the environmental impact as low as possible, it’s sad but give me bricks and mortar any day. Try or buy, leave…no messing, no stressful returns, long queues and waiting ages for refunds…oh God here I go again…but there really is no going back, a shame progress marches on and we either keep a beat with it or make an about ‘abrupt turn’ but to where & how…?
