It’s my Charity Shop ‘haul’

On yet another visit to a charity shop, I found myself in one of those ‘rummage and see what you can find’ places. These I love! It’s very refreshing to find these days due to a lot of shops closing and other shops ‘refitting’ or ‘modernising’ i.e. hiking up the prices, providing less choice and creating overall a much worse shopping experience. I’m finding a lot of stores who do this are hugely overpricing items even charging sometimes more than the original item when new! No excuse even for a charity!

some very useful accessories and a straightener for only £1! What a result! Couldn’t pass on that!

Especially when the general quality of the item has gone down through use…So it was nice to go to one of my usuals that have managed to stay open despite all the various downturns and lockdowns. It’s one of those places that doesn’t always have a price or it’s 3 for a £1 which is great these days living through this nightmare of cost of living crisis. Well, I’m describing this as a ‘haul’ (which another blogger has pointed out is the incorrect usage of the word…). I can’t really address that here but since the internet boom of bloggers/vloggers and (gritted teeth) ‘influencers’, haul has generally been used when you basically have a mad shopping spree and detail the results on your return. Or rather ‘show off’ your items and shopping ‘expertise’. So because I managed to grab such an amount of items from accessories to cosmetics I guess it classes as a ‘haul’ in the modern terminology of the word. My first documented one though I guess I do it all the time! Total spend was drum roll £2.50! Yes I had to make a few compromises like the phone case…my initial isn’t N! But it was all a bargain & hurrah! I arrived home very ‘smug’, satisfied and feeling all was well with my world (for a change + it doesn’t last long sadly…) so I sat down and celebrated with a ready made latte!

make or break with this makeup + a scrub and a face wash too!
