As June ends, the midpoint of the year concludes with no return. We enter the sign of the crab, Cancer, and July begins. It is fitting that this water sign rules what could be major turbulence with the election on American Independence Day, as well as my late mother’s birthday! (She said she was always popular with Americans.) I’m not holding out high hopes for change for the better; it’s all too depressing, so I’m distracting myself with a watery theme. I found no mermaids, but I did find a fantastic, characterful crab in a high-end department store. Wicked! Also a box of ‘mermaid-suitable’ hairgrips, their shimmering jewel-like surface immediately caught my eye. Yes, this was in a charity shop! + I found a fin-tailed bag in another one, not bad! That will do for me, thank you!

I have to focus my mind on something else for sanity’s sake. Be it a fake crab or a fin-tailed bag, who cares? As long as I ride this wave/storm and come out the other side sane! On ‘reflection’, I decided that I love the colour turquoise. It has a dreamy ‘otherworld’ quality, which makes me feel calmer. I hope it has this effect on you too! I’m still using my cheap 48-megapixel camera, so excuse the pixels that create a more ‘painterly’ effect for your delight. At least that’s the aim…Life is unsettled for me, so I hope to sail into much more tranquil waters that will soothe, heal, and rejuvenate; that’s all I wish for. Will the sign of Cancer accelerate that change? Not just for me but for all those who are struggling through these turbulent and challenging times. I’m not holding my breath, but just waiting and ‘sea’…
