A ‘Pop’ of Pink…
Looking for some fashion inspiration, I spotted a bag that screamed “look at me!” in a local charity shop. It was loud, proud, and drenched in bright bubblegum pink — it just couldn’t be ignored. Now, I’m not a pink fan. Personally, it doesn’t go with my beige ‘greige’ uniform (and I would look rather ridiculous with it, anyway). The price was £6 — made by River Island with a lovely padded, ‘squeezy’ texture. If it had been £3, I might’ve considered buying it and listing it on Vinted (but that’s another story). So I passed on…though I couldn’t resist taking a quick snap. There was something luscious and luxurious about its appearance; it was definitely out of the norm — no wallflower, that’s for sure! I must admit, I regret not buying it now.
Thinking about it later, I did a quick search to see what colours are currently trending. Did bubblegum pink feature? Well — no. But ‘wispy pink’ did. This bag? It was not wispy. It was going against the grain in every way. In another charity shop, I found a furry ‘hot’ pink keyring that might have gone with the bag. Hmm…I don’t think so, it just wouldn’t ‘suit’. Further afield (Selfridges, London), I came across a bag labelled “God’s Favourite” in pink. Whatever that was about. I took it at face value with its amusing pun — and (to me, at least) it required no further research. So there you have it — a ‘pop’ of pink, cheering in the bubblegum kind of way, and definitely not wispy. Though wispy would be my choice — a more watered-down, subtle pink, so to speak. Sadly, the bold bubblegum variety just wouldn’t suit me at all — but I do admire anyone who can make it work. Move over, Barbie!
