All about the Bride!

Well it’s ‘all Bridal’ with Marianne this week…inspired by Givenchy’s S/S 16 look, a more ‘laid-back’ approach to Bridal was achieved in homage to Givenchy’s great style. Of course it was all about ‘lace & transparency’ and concocting these on a tight budget. With the best way by ‘upcycling’ and customising.

Amazing what a bit of 'upcycling' can do!

An old Primark top was procured from the charity shop at £2 and a BHS underskirt at 50p, these were my ‘foundation items’ the’ boob tube’ underneath was surprisingly created from a pair of (unused) theatre knickers…who would have thought it? Amazing how just a ‘bit o lace’ can transform a very mundane item. The only new piece was the Bridal bag made from satin, trimmings and a bit of machine embroidery.

A closer inspection of the customisation  I felt confident in creating this as I am no dressmaker! (and have never  claimed to be..) The headdress was made from scraps cut out of the top with netting & sequins added, then ‘adorned’ with a floral headband purchased for a mere 50p. The lace effect pumps were £4 from Primark, and yes I had to make another hole in them! (the demands of a mannequin..).  Yes it's all about the Bride with this bag! and check out the chunky bracelet and lace detailing

Therefore I estimate the whole cost was around £25. It did take quite a while to collect everything, and several days on customisation and creating the bag, not bad though for a ‘high end’ look on a low budget…So I think the point here is that Bridal does not have to mean ‘formal’ or expensive..and I must say I do like this more ‘casual’, ‘laissez-faire’  approach therefore I think it’s most definitely ‘Say Yes to the dress!’It's all about lace and transparency & maybe a ribbon or two!
