‘Bag’ an icon…

How do you get hold of your own ‘personal icon’? Why by purchasing a bag in emblazoned with their image across it ‘of course!’ It was two enduring icon bags that ‘seized’ my ‘fashion eye’ whilst out and about ‘minding my own business’ as it were…in my immediate locality. Firstly that eternal icon of pure elegance and originality, Audrey Hepburn a la her Breakfast at Tiffany’s phase…complete with her diamond not diamanté tiara, which speaks ‘timelessness’ and high-class style. She is almost…‘untouchable’ she encapsulates fragility yet also strength and boundless personality. She is ‘still around’ ‘no’?Blue or beige it's still Marilyn... Next is that ‘siren of the screen’ Marilyn Monroe surely one of the world’s biggest and most common of icons? And why should she not be remembered this way? Marilyn also in embodies fragility yet ultimately great sadness surrounding her untimely death. Many questions arise on thinking of Marilyn…her multifaceted personality is still steeped in mystery…and will we ever know the answers? Or penetrate the depths of this often misunderstood woman? I also took a quick ‘tour around’ eBay and found the exact same Audrey Hepburn bag for double the price at £20! Which do you prefer? A Cara or Kate bag??There were many Marilyn bags…also a more up-to-date icon I found was the ‘browness’ herself Cara Delevingne and Kate Moss (of course) yet..more ‘strangely’ a Beyoncé bag with ‘Slay’ sloganed across it. The ‘strange’ is that it doesn’t look anything like Beyoncé (I had to read the name first…) and to be honest that made me laugh all the more…have to say I was 'slayed' by this image...And because one of my personal icons seems to be omitted from this ‘icon gallery’ I remedied this by creating my own ‘Kate Bush’ bag whose music and style set her apart from the rest forever….and that seems to be the keyword forever. To fill the gap I 'created' my own Kate bag... These images may be around ‘forever’ long after the physical icon is gone…and before I bid ‘adieu’ I would like to put up another icon of mine Margot Fonteyn who does rather remind me of Audrey H….
