Denims ‘in the detail’….

With the weather very changeable at present it’s difficult to really plan your summer outfits without the adjunct of well ‘just in case’….I’d better pack a waterproof and an umbrella! Downpours aside one wardrobe staple that won’t let you down any time soon is denim that versatile fabric which can adapt to any season or style. It’s just so omnipresent that one forgets its many advantages by totally taking it for granted! Well to be honest in ‘Philippa style’ I ‘don’t do denim’ (just look at my pics…!) and figure it out…but in my other ‘outside’ aka ‘normal’ life I wear it almost daily…it’s just so convenient you can dress it up or down. (Though mostly down for me…). It’s durable, comfortable and is always in fashion in some form or other so much so that just thinking of denim…what pops into my inbox?

A newsletter from trusty H&M stating ‘denim we missed you’ like well you’ve never gone away and missed you in the sense that we’ve truly not always appreciated your immense diversity…coming from a background of purely functional work wear this aspect has not disappeared at all over time with dungarees or there of similar items have never gone away for very long, such is there easiness I had no trouble in finding them as pictured above. Coming with pre made rips…which I don’t overall approve of due to their inauthenticity, ok I made be picky on that score as I guess ‘most’ people will not question it?? As getting those said rips genuinely would take an awful long time which in the world of fashion there isn’t generally (though this stance is now changing due to environmental pressures so pre-ripped may be out v soon…?) we’ll see…but for now they are there and on sale almost everywhere. With all varieties of rips, frays, fringing, distressing, pulling and part dyeing which all adds to the detail…

On my travels I came across a studded baseball hat and a jacket (very common in the denim world of course), the hat obviously not for me (can you imagine it…?) but the jacket ok for my ‘other’ non Philippa life…I haven’t come across a denim bag yet…though I’m not giving up the ghost on that yet…not sure if I do really want one but it would be nice if I at least had the choice though I don’t think I’ll find a denim umbrella! Which would be useless in itself as it’s not waterproof…maybe something that could be worked on for the future? As this rainy spell doesn’t seem to be going anyway soon unfortunately…it’s a question of buckling down until the storm passes…
