‘Golden’ Goodies at the Charity Shop

As per my last post about Scope, visiting a branded high-street charity shop can often disappoint with the inflated prices. Okay, if you argue that they are only trying to raise funds for the charity but that should never be at the expense of the customer ever. Charging more for a secondhand item than what it is new can never be acceptable. This is an appalling practice perpetrated by many charity shop chains. Just wandering around these high-priced shops can be depressing, ‘like why?’  What is the point any more? So when you come across a shop offering items at affordable and reasonable prices, it is such a rarity and what a joy! Grab it while you can, which I did bagging a nude eye shadow palette and false nails @ 99p and £1 respectively.

Will this 99p eyeshadow provide ‘the look?’

Now I’m certainly not a wearer of false nails but I’ve noticed that there seems to be a ‘trend’ of sellers wearing false nails whilst holding the item they are advertising either on Vinted or Facebook Marketplace etc. The nails appearing very prominent in the photos, even though the nails are not for sale (obviously). Why someone’s nails have to be such a feature when selling a non-nail item, I’m at a loss to explain apart from ‘showing off’. However, my idea is to try (OMG) applying false nails, photographing the item I’m selling as a total experiment to see if it sells faster. It’s something I’m dying to find out. Will it make a difference? I’m about to find out very soon! Though I’m dreading what it’s going to do to my natural nails…yikes!
