Gucci Up!
So my favourite style this season is what I would describe as the ‘Gucci look’, I was very impressed earlier this year with the new fashion director’s collection for S/S 15 so I‘d thought I’d better check in on what the latest was at the house of Gucci! I immediately headed to style.com & found the ‘Resort 2016’ collection, the looks from this runway ‘extravaganza’ gave me inspiration & ideas..namely for Marianne..I decided I was going to ‘Gucci her Up’! and here are the results. I first found knocking about at the bottom of my wardrobe a cream satin hat of my mother’s which I previously would of described as ‘that disturbing’ hat with the totally scary bow’, but looking at it afresh with the ‘Gucci look’ in mind I began to see possibilities..& so viewed it in an entirely different way…yes I thought this could definitely work!
So from it’s ‘dusty cocoon’ it reemerged ‘transformed’. Next I needed ‘those glasses’ (like my aunt wore in the sixties) an eBay search revealed the sought after specs. I already had purchased a suitable blouse, a sheer black number from the charity shop for £1! The skirt is the bottom half from a suit my mother wore (maybe the top will appear at a later date..) then the next issue was the shoes, (so far..I had none for Marianne..) so off to the High Street I go…& after some ‘too-ing & fro-ing’ came across the best match at Shoezone. The style was right, the price was good at £7.99, they were strudy, & most certainly ‘no nonsense’ despite the bow detail, which I thought really worked with the bow hat..the bag presented itself ‘whilst I wasn’t looking…’at my local charity shop for yep you’ve guessed it another £1! (& the belt presenting itself at the same time for 50p!)
I added the chain myself & dug in my jewellery ‘drawer’s’ for the necklaces, & the Paisley style scarf I ‘unearthed’ from my wardrobe..& finally Marianne was ‘Guccied Up’ & hoorah for that! All my hard work had finally paid off! I then tried some slightly different headware, again the sheer offwhite scarf was my mother’s (also at the bottom of my wardrobe), the rainhood’s, very stylish yet practical…one was acquired years ago in Eastbourne & the other was a recent purchase in readiness for my trip to Norfolk. Although they didn’t appear on the Gucci catwalk..I thought they were definitely the right style for the resort collection. It might not rain much in Italy but well if you want to create this look here, you will have to literally resort to such measures! So I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this ‘fashion escapade’. I wonder what’ll inspire me next?? All I know is Marianne may have to wear the same shoes…& I can tell you to purposely make a hole in a shoe is very hard work! Shoes with premade holes in anyone? A trend for the next season please!! (it would really help a lot)..!
