I’ll ‘bejewelled’ it’s Halloween again…

Or maybe beguiled..? Might be more appropriate…well it’s that time of year again…Halloween! Love it or hate it…you just can’t ignore it and it has changed a lot since I was a youngster…so from the usual ghouls and ghosts it was kind of a relief to encounter gems…face gems that is. I seriously doubt I’ll be partaking but it’s fun to look and take note. Of course there is all the usual skeleton, zombie and witch items. All very predictable…(like yawn…) rolled out each year without hardly any thought apart from “let’s make these items as they go with this event”. Well hate to say it but people are sick of this tat and not wanting the most mundane Halloween item, at least I don’t and at my age there are very few surprises in this department (trust me or just surprise me…go on…!). For my first looks (above) I came across Fright Club’s Skull Queen make up kit, very striking and Day of the Dead themed via Primark. Good start though not sure how I’d look with a painted black nose…or lips come to think of it…then trudging rather ‘zombie’ like through Poundland (like the only and I mean only £Shop in town unfortunately…) I found Creepy Town’s face gems self adhesive overall rather pretty!

gems r us or are they u? try & see I guess…

Returning to Primark I found more Day of the Dead face gems and a Harley Quinn set whoever that is….? (showing my age I guess…) though looks pretty disturbing to say the least with that ‘Clown’ accent and the “Rotten” text I guess she’s a very naughty girl…? I think I’ve seen the character on some film advert a while back but to be honest I’m not going to bother to enquire…the Day of the Dead is much more my style culturally. What next? And…where to go? As with today’s climate physical shops are very thin on the ground…so it was back to Poundland in another ‘zombie’ like trance. (How else to manoeuvre around such a shop? Apart from in a Dawn of the Dead march complete with music? Well I’m fighting my preconceptions of not finding anything of interest…!) so next I didn’t find an item but a poster appropriately on a post featuring a young woman in ghoulish makeup and ‘blood’ teared eyes complete with black rose head dress very fetching…at least it got my attention…! Then back in Primark….(Poundland…Primark…Poundland…Primark…and round I go…ahhhh) another Fright Club item…

The ‘new’ Morticia for the modern age? And another Fright Club ‘easy’ apply face decal

Runny eyes anyone? This cat like face decals have a nice animal ‘bite’…+ loving the cute nose and winged eye detail, probably a lot easier to stick on than paint on by hand in my experience….though not sure where I’m going with this apart from I have scary eyes? Though to think about it…me wearing this is bound to be so scary I don’t think I’d dare post any picture…or should I at least try and join the party?? Well hell no…as it’s a lot more fun for me standing on the sidelines….at least for now….Happy Halloween!!!
