‘Label lovin’ Louis…

Digitalised brandwise...Never hearing before of a Louis Vuitton exhibition the announcement of an exhibit detailing the making of a collection peaked my interest. I was curious of its content & how Louis Vuitton represented itself, plus it was free entry so what was not to like? Online booking & a timed entry I arrived excitedly with my ticket & was ‘scanned’ in via the q code? (is that what that strange fuzzy icon means?) All very efficiently done with smartly attired reception staff, maybe a hint of what’s coming up inside? So from the very beginning the importance of digital presentation was prevalent, with the first room round & darkened you were literally surrounded by the video projections, with dazzlingly images of Louis Vuitton trunks, logos, & luggage labels which lit up the screens followed by a model walking along with a variety of different Louis Vuitton bags. walking with a purpose & walking in style

there was a 'pow & a wow' in the digital displays

Louis Vuitton model struts her stuff!

This was followed by short films of various models appearing as ‘talking head’s’ speaking about modelling for Louis Vuitton, so this presentation was an exciting start to the show & of course I was ‘snapping away like crazy’ as photographs were not only allowed but also welcomed! Very refreshing! (when asking if I could take pictures? the answer was ‘why of course, & you can tweet instagram facebook’ all the things I don’t do at the moment – though watch this space..) The next room was introduced as ‘Artists hand’s’ & literally this was what it was via video screens on the surface of tables with machinist’s working on Louis Vuitton key pieces with the skill & intricacy involved depicted. The room itself was mirrored with digital images of what I can only describe as ‘flashes of light trails…’

precise work & a 'real live' worker on display

At the end of this exhibit was the entrance to the next room ‘the infinite show’ where you were invited to ‘relive the A/W 15/16 collection comprising of 48 looks, taking 30 make up artists, 25 hairdressers, 45 model dressers & ‘ one designer Nicolas ghesquiere’…to create…so I was prepared to be amazed...& I can’t say I was disappointed with this show where you were faced with multiple life sized screens of models strutting the collection bringing the designers vision alive…

The movement & colour captured certainly created an exciting display giving you some of the feeling of actually attending the show, one of my favourite looks was the large white fluffy sheepskin coat, followed by the long dark fur leopard printed coat, & the light grey satin trouser suit. ‘Very chic’ indeed but unfortunately I don’t ‘do trouser’s‘…I just don’t have the legs! (ironic really as you can actually hide them) that aside I forged ahead to encounter the collection for ‘real’ displayed in I would describe as a ‘glass wardrobe’, my favourite coat was there as well as a rather fetching tan & brown plaid suit, at last something Philippa could wear! A b&w printed long blouse or is it a dress? (pic confirms it’s a dress) which caught my ‘fashion eye’, I really liked the ‘turtle neck’ & long sleeves & here I stop….because this exhibition was so extensive I will continue with a ‘part 2’ with the most exciting aspect for me the mannequin display…I wonder if Louis Vuitton will be doing a ‘trunk show’ anytime soon?? There’s certainly ‘no nonsense‘ with that!

my very favourite coat in the collection...

I found some suitable clothes..didn't ask the price!

it wasn't a blouse! it's a dress!

another white dress - 'like' the lace detail

finally a trunk, after all this is how is all started!
