Lidl Surprise ‘Wow’…

I guess it was the ‘wow’ factor that greeted me on my recent visit to my local Lidl. Who’d of thought that Supermodel stardom could be viewed whilst picking up my usual groceries? I have seen clothing at Lidl before, but to be honest never gave it a second glance, it was usually just vests and t-shirts your basics really, which is what you might expect. Now Lidl have decided to ‘step it up’ with getting on board no other than Supermodel Heidi Klum who hosts Project Runway (a fave of mine..) and who already has her own various clothing lines. She’s not unique in this as Elle Macpherson also does it (& goodness who else..).

So what was it like? Well animal print was a key and prominent feature combined with work and casual wear in camel and navy blue. Good choices. Though have to say I think the shelves were a bit ‘raided’, and I was seeing what was left…which I think tells its own story. There seemed to be only one animal print hooded top left, I can see why, it must have been very popular. I think she’s actually done a pretty good job with her ‘mix n match, approach. There’s nothing new here but really what else could you be expected to get away with in a supermarket? Comme des Garçons? Vetements (who the fashion press constantly bang on about..& whom I am in ‘ignorant’ bliss..hee hee). Of course it all looks great on Heidi and I think she has taken into consideration to some point different body types. She’s not taking any big risks here, but that’s not the point. She’s turning the focus to fashion, which is not what Lidl is known for at present, but this could be the start of something that will certainly liven up my usual food shop. I’ll watch and wait and see what else that ‘wows’ me…!
