Slippers that are ‘Shoes’ and ‘Boxes’ that are Bags!
In the early part of the year I tore out of my free (yet again) newspaper, this time, an article which hi-lighted two fashion looks that will be ‘Big in 2016’. First is the ‘box’ clutch bag, second are ‘slipper shoes’ so in order to test this out I ‘hit the High St’ to see whether these items were readily available to celebrate this trend? On first searching for the box clutch I’m happy to report that yes! There were a number of styles on offer, from the metallic, hard ‘shell’ cased, to woven and bejewelled the High St certainly offered an array of choices for the box clutch.
This style of bag easily lends itself to evening use and it seems by the decorative applications this is what the designers had in mind, but would a box clutch suffice for daily use? When more space is generally needed then just carrying a ‘bank card, lipstick and of course a mobile phone!’ For fun purposes I present here my impromptu ‘Guylian chocolate box clutch’ a bit ‘Anya Hindmarch’ I know, but well she didn’t invent ‘pop art’ and I have to say the Guylian chocolates are mighty fine.
On looking for the ‘slipper shoe’ I was less than successful…my High St search did not produce one slipper shoe…just slippers, so where on earth do you actually get a slipper shoe?? Or do you just wear slippers? I was most vexed that this was the situation. Here was a trend that had not made it to the High St at all! (Well certainly not the High St I visited..).
I also checked on Asos.com (my ‘go-to’ online store) and I didn’t ‘find what I was looking for…’ The nearest look is featured here with their ‘No you didn’t’, (ironic I know..) pom pom slippers, but again they were slippers not shoes. My eBay search didn’t prove fruitful either, with all ‘manner of slippers’ but no fluffy slipper shoes….Oh well, no one can say that I didn’t try, so I think it’s time to put my feet up in some ‘ordinary’ slippers and indulge in some Guylian chocolates! Yum! And even better now the box is a bag!
the closest Asos came to the ‘slipper shoe’
my ebay search did not ‘bear fruit’…
