Steph Steps into Spring….!
Spring is arriving early at the Charity Shop, the look was ‘bold’ the colours strong, a vivid yellow & a ‘deep’ purple, this was no ‘wallflower approach’ no ‘fading into the background’ the attitude was very much ‘I’m here, I’m now, it’s spring, let’s get on with it’. The dress is a gathered flower print chiffon with a plain yellow underlay, very ‘now‘ actually (I’m thinking of the Spring Chanel show with its floral & flowy fabrics) the purple shrug is intense in its colouring, the hat is formal, a very early ‘Ascot’ look for Steph? There is no bag or shoes (we won’t dwell on the lack of shoes as there never is…) a nice shoulder bag hanging ‘nonchalantly’ like Lanvin’s sugar bag in gold would be perfect… ‘that is just a dream…for us ‘impoverished’ individuals….but this doesn’t stop us improvising or making our own fashion statement…so to see if Steph’s look was ‘in step with the times’ I took a stroll down the high St & captured a few looks…
I was specifically looking for ‘that yellow’ & ‘that purple‘, & yes I did find some yellows, that ‘vivid purple’ was only seen on a trim on a top in M&S…otherwise it was lilac. I have to say I was not at all excited with the ‘High St fare’. First up is M&S where I found the right colours as it were, but my goodness were their looks boring or what?? A black wash jean with light purple colour mix v-neck with yellow t-shirt & black shopper – dull! Next! A 3 mannequin display with ‘yes the yellow makes an appearance’ & does rather ‘liven up the proceedings’ but really more jeans & loafers ahh…Bon Marche went for lilac back drop with purple & floral prints with sequin accents, I liked the ‘romantic feel‘ of this display. Finally is Dorothy Perkins, I didn’t find the yellow but I did find the purple, on yet again another floral print blouse, so floral is big big big this season! (& not for the first time either..deja vu darling….). All in all when you compare Steph to the High St looks, I think you have to concur that Steph ‘is streets ahead’…!
