Stephanie’s ‘spotlight’…
I haven’t been down to my local Charity Shop for a long while…(shame on me), so I thought I better go get back there pronto, to check out what’s the latest ‘fashion scoop’. Where…I could discover by beating my tracks back…to one of my favourite local fashion icons ‘Stephanie’, the Charity shop mannequin! You never know what she will be wearing, and that is the excitement! Will it be on trend or ‘out’, will it (most importantly) be a new look that hasn’t hit the fashion radar yet? I have to say this week’s look definitely has a Mondrian feel to it, mixed with maybe also a bit of ‘mod chic’ and I like it. So the outfit gets a tick, but a big ‘thumbs down’ to the most disparaging arrangement surrounding her. She is ‘cocooned’ behind a mound of baskets and unorganised clothing, would this happen at Vogue..? Or Tatler? I don’t think so…so what on earth is going on? How could such a local ‘icon’ be treated this way? With such disregard and casualness? You wouldn’t see a Chanel mannequin displayed in such a way, or any celebrity, or any top runway models like Julia Norbis…? Would you? Really? So what’s the ‘deal’ here? Well, most dismayed by this ‘junk shop’ approach, I decided to ‘fight back’ and Photoshop Stephanie into her own fashion spotlight, (quite literally), as I felt by being neglected like this, she deserves some star treatment, oh yes! This does this make me feel slightly better, but let’s hope she will get the ‘Royal treatment’ she deserves soon…on a further note maybe I should ‘turn my frown around’ on this…and look at this situation more positively. Could this ‘rummaging’ & overflowing baskets look become the very latest ‘new thing’ in fashion displays? A comment on our wasteful society? We should recycle, renovate & reuse, that is what Charity Shops are about after all, but how about applying it to the mainstream? Let’s get messing up those ‘perfect’ displays now!!! Rummaging baskets-ago-ago! You heard it here first!
