‘Texture’ it…

On my usual rounds of junk and charity shops, I began to encounter items that were embellished, decorated and textured. So I thought let’s ‘celebrate’ that. From beading to embroidery adding a whole new layer of interest to what would otherwise maybe a rather boring bag or jacket. Embellishment is nothing new at all…but what sparked my interest was the white highly decorated jacket (above). It just looked so stark against an otherwise ordinary and dull environment. The next day I came across the bag (also above) again highly decorated with a metallic touch that united the two in similarity..…and it didn’t stop there oh no…(like it ever does…thank goodness or where would I be???).

the black Victorian style handbag was my favourite though the bronze satin does have it’s place…

Next I came across a black velvet ‘Victorian style’ handbag with appliqué braiding creating a suitably swirling pattern and in the same shop I found a small bronze satin clutch with diagonal multi-coloured beading I do like to get a 2 for 1. Later that day I found a black sequinned evening bag bronze again was a feature, and in the final shop a flowered embellished make up bag. Okay…so nothing either highly original or outstanding (apart from the white jacket that is..) but celebrating some ‘diversity’ in the creation of not only a pattern, and an ‘attractive look’ but adding another ‘skin’ as it were…to something very ordinary and every day. You just have to look for it and find the interest somewhere… It’s not always that hard to find…though I’ll never stop looking…

although ‘predictable’ both are textured, you just HAVE to find the ‘interest’ somehow…
