The ‘Unveiling’ of Marianne..
So now the time has come for the ‘unveiling’ of the ‘mysterious’ Marianne..aimed to coincide with the celebration of Ascot’s Ladies day, the face of my ‘RagAsh’ label is revealed..the net remains for just a fraction of a second, before the final lifting….on this ‘face of fashionable mystery’ the true beauty of Marianne is daringly exposed, yet with the filigree eye mask Marianne is still ‘holding back’ somewhat.
The intensity of those piercing blue grey eyes penetrate from behind the mask…& you know you are caught under her bewitching spell of ‘fashion forward inspiration’ expect the ‘unexpected’ from this fashion muse, there will be ‘no nonsense’, & she won’t be taking any ‘prisoners’ so you have been warned! Why the name Marianne? Well it was like when I first saw Stephanie it just ‘came‘ to me…(though in the back of my mind was the French Marianne) that feminine symbol of liberty. So in honour of that treasured national icon ‘my’ Marianne was born…but what is she wearing?
With Ascot in mind I plundered my local shops with a budget of around £10 & surprisingly I found all the fascinator items in Poundland, I bought 4 styles with one very attractive feather brooch, very ‘Victorian noir’ (the look I was aiming for) & to finish off this effect I decided black net from my local haberdashers would do the trick! Racing home I got back to work my ‘RagAsh’ magic in styling Marianne for her first fashion shoot. The eye mask I had already ordered from Asos (cost £9.99) so I set to work arranging the hair pieces when I was inspired to cut the net making a ‘scarf’ & tie a loose bow around her neck before adding the feather brooch for a finishing touch.
Little did I realise but I was ‘bang on trend’ with the net scarf look, as a few days later I spotted an identical net bow from the Chanel S/S 15 featured in the free ES magazine & I can say I was more than happy with this result! I was obviously ‘channelling‘ this French freedom of spirit through Marianne..with Chanel as the common link, oh yes I was chuffed! Not a bad start for the ‘English Marianne’ is it??
